Life is boring without the Internet

Yesterday, I had to endure an entire day without the Internet and I was BORED!! I know I have two little ones to keep me on my toes and believe me, they do, but I had nothing to watch, no blogs to read and I could only access Facebook through my iPhone. I also tried to call Ian at least 10 times to see if he could fix the Internet over the phone but he was so swamped at work, he couldn't even answer the phone. So I resorted to doing the dishes and laundry. Housework is WAY boring!

I can't believe it is December 1st today! I have no idea where the month of November went! I have so much I want to get done this month and I just have to face the fact that I might not be able to accomplish all the things on my to do list.

Last Saturday, Ian and I went on a date to "The Forgotten Carols."
I haven't seen it in years and Ian hasn't ever seen it. I was just as wonderful as I remember. I even got a little teary-eyed this year! Watching it made me want to be a better mom and wife and to enjoy the holiday season for the real reasons, instead of getting caught up in presents, trees and parties.

So to be a better mom and I am trying my hardest not to yell at Kate anymore. I noticed that she doesn't respond any better if I yell or if I keep my voice down. I feel like a better mom if I don't yell at her. So far I have made it three days and we have both been happier.

I am trying to get Daniel on a schedule and sleeping better at night. It has been harder than I thought it would be. He slept five hours last night before he woke up hungry. I have noticed that Kate is able to sleep when he cries and fusses so that's good, I was worried that he would wake her up and then I would have to tired, grumpy kids awake!

Daniel turned 3 months old last Saturday and I took some super cute pictures but I'll have to post them later since I am on a different computer and I don't have my pictures with me.

Happy December everyone!

Kate's First Year

I borrowed this idea from my wonderful cousin's blog. I hope she doesn't mind! I thought it was just the cutest idea and I am going to get it printed off and put it in a frame and hang it in her room. I am going to make one for Daniel too. There is a picture from every month of her first year, starting with August 2007.

Daniel talking and smiling

Daniel is enjoying a few minutes of peace and quiet while big sister and Daddy sleep. He is such a happy little guy, I just had to share it with you all!

video

While I was waiting for the video to upload, he started to fuss. So I started giving him kisses and I blew a raspberry on his neck thinking he would laugh, he immediately started to scream! I think I scared him! It was so funny!

Let's update this thing!

Oh it is November! I am in denial. Even though I complained about the heat all summer, I want the warm weather back! I hate wearing and carrying around big, bulky coats, frozen car windows, cold car seats, having to keep blankets on Daniel's car seat, wearing real shoes and having to run the heater all day! Plus it is almost Christmas! I think I am boycotting the holidays this year due to lack of funds!

We have been going, going, going everyday it seems. Today we decided to stay home and take it easy. Last week I helped my mom get ready for a garage sale. We had it last Saturday and despite the cooler, windy weather we actually did well. We made about $450 and split it among us. That left me with enough to buy some new shoes!

My parents sold their house and have to be out of it by this Friday, so we had the garage sale to get rid of a bunch of stuff and to make a little cash. This week I have helped my mom pack up boxes and clean the house. It has been difficult helping when Kate is running around with her cousins causing mayhem and I have to feed and comfort Daniel a lot, but we actually got a lot accomplished.

Daniel has come down with a cold and isn't feeling well today. But I did manage to get some cute pictures of him.

He has completely weaned himself of the pacifier. He prefers his thumbs and fingers instead.

Such a cutie!
Long and lean!

In other news, I have read this book,
I was told about it when I was struggling with Kate as a baby but never went and bought it. I decided to pick up a copy at the book store and I read it in just two days. I really like how to tells you to get baby on a flexible but predictable schedule. Just reading the book and applying a single concept, the eat, wake and then sleep idea, has helped him sleep better. During the day if you keep baby awake after a feeding for awhile and then put them down for a nap, they don't rely on food to fall asleep. It has some other suggestions I plan on trying when Daniel gets feeling better.

The last few nights he has slept 6 hours so I am happy, let's just hope it continues. I am hoping we can all get on a better schedule and be happy, well-rested and productive!

Happy Halloween!

Usually boys don't wear their sisters hand-me-downs, but I thought this Halloween outfit was an exception.

Aren't they the cutest bugs?!

My little ladybug!
Thursday night we went to Boo at the Zoo. It was a lot of fun but very cold! Poor Kate was freezing! Daniel slept nice and warm in the car seat though.

Thursday was also Ian's 30th birthday! After Boo at the Zoo we went back to my parents house and had pizza, cake and ice cream.
Since I am usually the one taking the pictures I am rarely in them, so I handed the camera over to my brother-in-law so we could get one of us. I think Daniel was being passed around at this point.
My oldest brother, Kelden, pointed out that this was probably our last family get together in my parents house. They sold their house and will be moving in November. They are building a new house but it won't be done until closer to Christmas. I am sad to see the house I grew up in and lived in my whole life be sold! I guess we'll have to make new memories in their new house!
